The Sources of Christian Ethics
A Book Review & Discussion
With Fr. Roberto Cid

Join us for six consecutive Thursdays evenings
7:00 – 8:30 PM in the Music room
February 18th through March 25th, 2010

“The Church knows that the issue of morality is one which deeply touches every person; it involves all people, even those who do not know Christ and his Gospel or God himself.” (John Paul II, Veritatis Splendor, 3)

The Second Vatican Council called for “the perfecting of moral theology. Its scientific exposition, nourished more on the teaching of the Bible, should shed light on the loftiness of the calling of the faithful in Christ and the obligation that is theirs of bearing fruit in charity for the life of the world.” (Optatam Totius, 16)

Fr. Servais Pinckaers OP, a Belgian theologian who taught at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland was, together with John Paul II, one of the pillars in the renewal of moral theology on the basis of Scripture and Tradition. His emphasis on virtue as the basis of morality is both relevant to our every day life and of great theological importance.

If you would like to know more about Christian morality at large and the basis for moral action, join Fr. Roberto M. Cid to read and discuss Fr. Pinckaers’ most influential book, The Sources of Christian Ethics.
