Marriage Annulment Ministry
The Catholic Church teaches that marriage is a covenant for life, entered freely, between one man and one woman, to establish a loving and equal partnership for the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of children.
At times the consent is not given freely. At times one of the spouses chooses to violate the marriage vows at the altar, whether purposely or not. Such action(s) could render the marriage "invalid". As time goes by this marriage could fail and the partners seek a divorce.
The Catholic Church expresses its faith in the Sacrament of Matrimony and suffers over marital failure. It exhorts the divorced who have been left alone to be faithful to the sacrament of their marriage. It invites the divorced involved in a new union to recognize their irregular situation, which involves a state of sin, and to ask God for the grace of a true conversion. Remember that Catholics who have divorced and civilly remarried, or who are in an intimate relationship outside of marriage with another partner, cannot receive the Sacraments of Penance and Eucharist.
A Declaration of Nullity of a marriage has existed practically since the Catholic church established the Sacrament of Matrimony. Marriage Annulment Advocates work with the legal aspects of a marriage as established in the Code of Cannon Law. We are St. Gregory's volunteers that after passing a one or two year course have been certified by the Metropolitan Tribunal of the Archdiocese of Miami. We represent divorced people, before the Metropolitan Tribunal of Miami in petitioning a Declaration of Nullity, which will allow them to marry in the Catholic church. We can explain and assist the divorced Catholic or even a divorced non-Catholic who wishes to enter the Catholic faith, or one who wants to marry a Catholic, with the Petition for a Decree of Nullity.
Your Marriage Annulment Advocate is very aware that this might be a painful process for you. Be assured that you will not go through it alone. We will be with you to help turn this experience into a healing process that will reconcile you with your faith.
Feel free to call and we will discuss your particular situation.
